JASNAH KHOLIN

ELEVATOR PITCH: Jasnah Kholin is a philosopher-queen who believes power is more of a tool than her birthright. She intends to make her crown obsolete. Also she's a giant nerd who can and will nerd out, albeit sternly.

BACKGROUND:
Born the daughter of a warlord and raised within rigid Vorin gender norms, Jasnah learned early how to navigate (and exploit) systems of power. She observes tradition when it is useful, bends it when it obstructs her goals, and discards it entirely when it proves false.

She is famously atheistic in a deeply religious society. This skepticism extends to all systems of belief, including her own conclusions. Jasnah claims adherence to utilitarian ethics, though her application of them is pragmatic rather than dogmatic. And not without contradiction and a light sprinkling of hypocrisy. Her past includes decisions others would find unforgivable, including the commissioning of an assassination attempt against her sister-in-law. And murdering some back-alley cutpurses.

Jasnah is relatively Cosmere-aware thanks to her insufferable immortal ex-boyfriend.

APPEARANCE:
Tall (6'4") with posture that emphasizes intention rather than intimidation. Every movement is economical, deliberate. Tan skin, violet eyes, black hair typically braided and pinned. Her clothing favors tailored silhouettes and richly saturated fabrics, chosen as much for authority as aesthetics.

In keeping with Vorin custom, her left hand is always covered — either gloved or concealed by a buttoned sleeve.

VOICE & DEMEANOR:
Low, precise, and measured. Jasnah speaks with intent; every word is chosen, every pause deployed. When displeased, her tone is cutting rather than raised. When pleased, warmth is present but restrained. Rare lapses into crassness occur only when self-control is exhausted, which she finds faintly embarrassing.

She can be quite cold and/or rude with strangers, but is considerably warmer with family and close confidants. She's bad at apologizing.

PERSONALITY:
Highly rational, but not unfeeling. Jasnah values people who demonstrate intellectual honesty, competence, and the ability to revise their beliefs in the face of evidence. Once trust is earned, her loyalty is fierce and enduring. She is impatient with foolishness. While she projects certainty, she is not afraid of being wrong.

As an Elsecaller, Jasnah has sworn oaths centered on self-mastery and the pursuit of her full potential. These oaths align with her philosophical commitments: growth through accountability, progress through reflection. She is comfortable acknowledging error, provided it leads to adaptation. Failure is acceptable. Stagnation is not.

She's also deeply paranoid, particularly when it comes to credible (or perceived) assassination attempts.

ABILITIES:
Provided she has access to stormlight, a magical white vapor from her homeworld, Jasnah has access to the following powers. In AUs, PSLs, etc., this can all be nerfed to varying degrees.
—Knight Radiant: Can summon her spren, Ivory, as a sword. Can use stormlight to heal anything short of a fatal blow to the head.
—Surge of Transportation: aka Elsegating. Can transfer into and out of the Cognitive Realm, although she's always found returning to be tougher. Could in theory use this ability to worldhop.
—Surge of Transformation: aka Soulcasting. Can transform one material into another by either coaxing or commanding its constituent parts to change. Some materials are easier than others. Easier with physical contact, but can be done at a distance.

OOC
—shipping: Unlikely, but not impossible. Open to 25+ m/f and f/f. Jasnah is canonically asexual; however she does experience romantic attraction and does want a relationship, though her standards are exacting and her trust is not easily earned. Emotional and intellectual intimacy are prerequisites. Connections are likely to develop slowly and deliberately, grounded in mutual respect and sustained intellectual engagement. She is sex-neutral and physical intimacy, if it occurs at all, might comes later after emotional intimacy is established.
